Live Green Orleans invites everyone to get in tune with your inner Erin Brochovich and start the week with free educational training on the possible environmental, health and economic impacts of Plasma Arc Technology (wha-wha?). Our point exactly. In the words of my favorite Saturday morning Schoolhouse Rocks: Knowledge is power.

Communities who strive for Zero Waste are investing in laws, technologies and programs that ensure that all products are made and handled in ways that are healthy for people and the planet. Our communities here in New Orleans have the opportunity to work towards Zero Waste, and recognize that on a planet with a finite amount of resources, the only responsible course of action is to live in such a way that protects the environment and public health for generations to come.

As a nod to World Recycling Day (07-08-09), and in an effort to keep our Waste Management rivals here in Orleans and Jefferson Parish honest, we went on a dumpster dive for resourceful management recommendations to discover which Parishes are having success and which ones are just blowing smoke.
