Former SAINT teams with America’s Wetland Foundation to help Louisiana’s endangered coast

“We estimate it would cost between $2,500 and $5,000 to purchase the plants needed to restore a wetland habitat the size of a football field,” said Hilary Collis, program director of the AWCC. “Once areas are declared safe, and don’t require the wearing of hazardous material clothing, we will go in and replant areas that need it,” Collis said.

When Hurricane Season and Oil Spills Collide

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has forecast an “active to extremely active” hurricane season due to the warm Atlantic Ocean water, the continuation of a “high-activity era” that began in 1995 with the absence of El Nino, which typically means weaker storms.

Drilling and Spilling: Lessons from Ecuador

I travelled to Ecuador with a group called Global Exchange based out of San Francisco. Our goal was to explore the connection between the destruction of the environment and human rights violations by diving into the Amazon jungle and talking with affected local families, indigenous leaders, and environmental organizations.
