Local Spotlight: Green Economy, Green Jobs Fair

On the heels of President Obama’s Town Hall meeting last week at UNO, Live Green New Orleans applauds another first from Global Green USA: the 1st Annual Student Green Jobs/Career Fair for New Orleans Public High School students. The Green Jobs Fair on Saturday, October 24th from 8.30a-3.45p at Walter Cohen High School located at 3520 Dryades, will host four hour-long sessions featuring 23 career topics with local speakers discussing their specific careers and why they chose that particular path. Global Green will also provide free breakfast and lunch for attendees who register by Friday, October 23rd at 12noon.

Live Green New Orleans has posted these previous articles focusing on green jobs this past June and August: Green Jobs 101: 5 to Watch and Can We Green Our Jobs in New Orleans? Both touched upon key job categories that Global Green’s event will include like Renewables, Sustainable Planning, Home Efficiency Consultants, Solar Power, Energy Efficient Construction/Architecture, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Eco-preneurs. Guest speakers include architect Prisca Weems of FutureProof; eco-preneur Peter Seltzer with CANOPY, Repower Louisiana’s Carbon Reducer Laura Nevitt; green construction guru Cesar Rodriguez from Make it Right; along with many more HERE including Keynote Speaker Jerome Ringo, President of the Apollo Alliance.
