Local Opinion: Recycling is FabuNOLA!
After the Recycling Foundation of Baton Rouge had to stop their pick-ups in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes earlier this year, I’m very pleased that someone else is going to now be doing this on a regularly basis (once a month period). Although not completely where we need to be with City-wide Recycling yet. This is a step back in the right direction . . . a Light at the end of the tunnel.
Also, another reminder (and another light) . . . Ron Labrano with Lab Recycling does FREE Home Recycling Pick-up in FabuNOLA (yes, twice a month at YOUR HOME — tell him I sent you) or $20/month for Businesses. He also take eWaste (Computers, etc.).
I keep stating this and several people keep attempting to state that this isn’t happening (look deeper into our FabuCity and you are sure to find exactly what you seek … he’s been doing this for years . . . support his business!!). Please check out his info on my FabuNOLA Blog (under FabuRecycling Finds).
I also just found out that Consciously Rebuilding will no longer be doing their Glass Recycling Program (turning the Glass into Wearable Art and Jewelry) due to funding challenges. Please do what you can to reach out to this organization if you can help them in any way. Not only were they the only ones taking the Glass in this City . . . they were also turning it into something beautiful.
October 2nd, 2009RECYCLE POINTS: Recycling Drop-Off Points in the City are at The Green Project & Euterpe Recycling Center.

Unfortunately, I emailed Ron Labrano and he said that he was no longer doing curbside pickup. Instead, he referred me to the Euterpe dropoff location.
Disappointing!

Aww!! Thanks Emma. Last time I talked to him, he seemed a little overwhelmed and needing to find balance (like all of the rest of us). Fortunately, Allied is doing this drop-off (I just went last weekend to drop-off and chat with them).
They were really grateful for the mention in my FabuNOLA eNewsletter (www.FabuNOLA.com to sign-up), my Blog (www.FabuNOLA.Wordpress.com) and right here on Live Green New Orleans (thanks bunches, Traci).
Thanks too Emma for being someone willing to do your part in our Eco-Movement and taking the extra steps to do so. I commend you for it!!
Many blessings.
Peace & Love,
Cherylyn

Phoenix Recycling is worth every penny in my opinion. I understand that not everyone can afford their twice monthly curbside pickup services, but for those of us who can, it’s a great thing to support. The more people that can support them now, the cheaper their service will become in the long run. Neighbors might also think about going in on the service together and splitting the bill between two households.
